About the JC

In 2000, after overindulging in a full Thanksgiving Dinner, Jenny Bastian challenged her Dad that she could run 100 miles before Christmas and bet that he couldn't do it as well. She was inspired to shorten the High School Cross Country team’s goal of running 100 miles in one year to just one month.  Jenny’s Dad laughed and accepted the challenge.

They had no idea how popular this challenge would become! Since then, the entire Bastian family has done it every year and inspired hundreds more. The ring of people who are crowned "Jenny Challenge" finishers is growing exponentially! It is our goal to turn a small community challenge into something that is national in scope.

It is a rewarding experience that can be enjoyed by runners from all levels, from novice to marathoner. The JC offers great accountability and camaraderie as all challengers are racing towards the same goal. Also, it’s fun to challenge your friends… first to 100 miles wins!

Be sure to invite any and all of your friends to sign up this year, run your 100 miles between Christmas and Thanksgiving, and crown yourself a “Jenny Challenge Finisher” by 2011.
